MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Football team, coming off a 4-6 season in 2015, starts the 2016 campaign Friday night when they take on the visiting Bears of Bridgewater State University.

The Colonels welcomed a large group of newcomers in 2016 that will look to help improve the team on all sides of the ball. The Purple and White return 17 seniors this season, including their captains for the season, Jake Cawlina and James Hill. Both captains recently answered a few questions about the upcoming season.

1. What do you expect from the season?

Cawlina

I expect for our team to have a great season this year. We have a lot of talent and hardworking individuals. As long as we all stick together and play for one another we will have a successful year.

Hill

This season coming up, I expect big things to come from this team. I am looking forward to having a successful year. 

2. What does it mean to you to be named a captain?

Cawlina

It means a lot to me to have been named captain. We have a lot of great upper class men on this team and to be named a leader out of our class is really an honor.

Hill

Being named captain by my peers means being a role model on and off the field, as well as being a leader on the team. I am honored to have been named Captain by my teammates.

3. What does season opener mean to you?

Cawlina

The season opener is always a special game. You prepare all offseason and all camp just to get back on the field. This will be my final season wearing purple and white, so starting the year off right with a win is something that is very important to my teammates and I.

Hill

The season opener is an opportunity to show how hard we have been working during camp, and also to set a good tone for the rest of the season. I am looking forward to getting after it in my final season at Curry College.

4. How did camp go?

Cawlina

Camp went well this year. We had a a lot of returning guys, but also a lot of new guys. We all became very close during camp, and we all ready for the season to begin this Friday against Bridgewater State.

Hill

Camp went well this year, we showed up every day working hard and focusing on improving our game.

Curry dropped the season opener last season to the Bears, 42-21. The Colonels look to get off on the right foot this year and make a deep run into the post-season.
