Motivational Speaker Switchenko Inspires Curry Student-Athletes

MILTON, Mass. - On Thursday, October 23 in the Student Center Gymnasium, more than 350 Curry College student-athletes attended a presentation by motivational speaker Daniel Switchenko. Dr. Switchenko has a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from The Ohio State University. Switchenko has been speaking to a variety of audiences for over 35 years. He has a particular fondness for speaking to student-athletes after spending 18 seasons coaching men's basketball at the collegiate level.

Switchenko is an extremely dynamic and captivating speaker. He shared real-life stories with the student-athletes that touched on various topics including: the impact of substance abuse on academic and athletic performance; the impact of good leadership upon interscholastic and intercollegiate performance; and the ingredients for success. "Dan delivered some very important messages in an entertaining manner," said Curry College Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione, adding "he did an outstanding job relating to our student-athletes and his honesty made his message even more genuine."

"Dan's message to the student-athletes was incredibly empowering," said Curry College Substance Abuse and Wellness Education Coordinator Michele DeVoe. "His dedication and passion for students shows through his energy and heartfelt personal stories of helping students strive to be the best person/athlete they can be."

DeVoe went on to add: "One of the most powerful experiences that I had the pleasure of witnessing during this presentation was the respect that the student-athletes showed after his presentation. Many of the athletes approached Dan with a hand shake to simply say 'thank you'."
