Calley Named as NEFC & ECAC Division III Northeast Defensive Player of the Week

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College senior defensive tackle Sam Calley (Weymouth, Mass.) has been named as New England Football Conference (NEFC) Defensive Player of the Week and the ECAC Division III Northeast Defensive Player of the Week for his performance during the Colonels' 34-13 win over Nichols on November 9.

Playing in the final home game of his four-year career at Curry, Calley had a team-leading nine tackles (7 solo). The remarkable part of those nine tackles is that eight of them were tackles for loss (-24 yards), and six of them were sacks (-21 yards). Those six sacks established a school record for sacks in a game. In addition, the team captain had a pair of forced fumbles.

Curry wraps up its season next Saturday at Maine Maritime.
