Baseball Announces Captains For 2020 Season

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College baseball team has selected three student-athletes to serve as team captains for the 2020 season.

Senior infielder/pitcher Adam Duarte (East Providence, R.I.), junior pitcher Zachary Wensley (Raynham, Mass.), and sophomore infielder Jason Leonard (Dedham, Mass.) have been selected to lead the 2020 Colonels.

Duarte, a three-year letterman, has appeared in 95 career games. In 2019, he recorded a .235 batting average with 23 hits including five doubles, four home runs, 20 runs batted in, and scored 14 runs. Over the past three seasons, Duarte has played in 95 games and has 69 hits, 12 doubles, 32 runs scored, 38 runs batted in, and eight stolen bases.

Wensley, a two-year letter winner, has made 21 appearances on the hill for the Colonels. Last season, he registered two wins with one save and one complete game. Over his career, Wensley has pitched in 94.1 innings and has struck out 61 batters. He is also a one-time member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference Team.

Leonard broke onto the scene as a freshman last season and led the Colonels in multiple categories. He finished his first season with a .279 batting average with 34 hits, 11 doubles, five home runs, 25 RBI, and 19 runs scored in 35 games. Leonard was named as the CCC Rookie of the Week on March 4 and was a Third Team All-CCC selection.
