Connors, Griffin and Morris Earn CCC Weekly Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The newly-crowned league champion Curry College Baseball Team swept all three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards for the period ending on May 3. Freshmen David Griffin and Evan Morris also received Corvias ECAC Division III New England Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively:

Player of the Week - Curry College junior outfielder Kyle Connors (Stoughton, Mass.) drove in the winning run with an RBI-single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Colonels topped Roger Williams 5-4 in the CCC Championship Game.  In four CCC Tournament games, Connors batted .429 (6-for-14) with two RBI to help the Curry claim its first CCC crown since 2007.

Pitcher of the Week - Curry College freshman David Griffin (Hanover, Mass.) was the winning pitcher in Curry's 5-4 win over Roger Williams in Sunday's CCC Championship Game. Griffin came out of the bullpen and tossed 5-1/3 innings of one-hit, shutout ball, striking out four in the process.  On Friday, Griffin went the distance in a 3-2 victory over RWU, allowing two runs on five hits, while fanning five. In 14-1/3 innings in the CCC Tournament, Griffin went 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA, allowing just six hits and three walks, while striking out nine.

Rookie of the Week - Curry College freshman third baseman Evan Morris (Pembroke, Mass.) walloped a three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning of the CCC Championship Game to tie the game at 4-4.  Curry went on to defeat Roger Williams 5-4 on a walkoff single in the ninth.
