Baseball Wraps Up Spring Break Trip to Florida with a 7-3 Win Over Cairn

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Curry College Baseball team wrapped up its Spring Break Trip today by notching a 7-3 win over Cairn University. The Colonels went 5-3 in Florida and now stand at 6-4 overall. With the loss, Cairn slips to 2-4 on the season.

Curry scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings, and plated a pair each in the second and sixth innings to build a 7-0 lead. Four Colonels' batters had two hits apiece, including junior John Arens, freshman Evan Morris, sophomore Nick Crivello and senior Derek Pizarro. Morris drove in three runs, while Arens and senior Kyle Connors each scored a pair.

Freshman starter David Griffin tossed seven scoreless innings for Curry, scattering three hits and issuing two walks while striking out six. Senior Tanner Givens came on in relief, pitching a scoreless eighth before being touched up for three runs in the top of the ninth.

The Colonels are scheduled to play their next game at Fitchburg State on March 18 at 3:30 p.m.
