Curry Athletics Division III Week Recap

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Athletics celebrated NCAA Division III Week from April 3-9. The weeklong event was a celebration by member institutions and conferences of the division's unique philosophy that equally values academics, athletics and student-athletes' involvement in a full and rich campus life. Curry College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as student-athletes from all teams participated in various community service projects and events all week.

Throughout the week, SAAC members sold "Fear the Beard" shirts for the fourth year with proceeds going to Team IMPACT. Even though the weather proved tricky many faculty and staff members attended the week's games and matches. On Tuesday evening Student-Athletes were pitted against 14 Faculty and Staff Members from across campus in a competitive basketball game. While the Student-Athletes prevailed, Professor Grant Burrier stole the show and won game MVP. Faculty Staff team included: Mike Kay Fuller and Sean Modri from Residence Life, Officers Enrik Uka, Tim DeCristofaro, and Public Safety Director Paul L'Italien. Professors included Aaron Arnold and Peter Hainer from Criminal Justice, Professors Burrier and Rob Smid from Politics and History and Philosophy. Admissions counselors included George Garcia and Kevin Gallegos. Coaches TJ Manastersky (Hockey) and Matt LeVangie (Men's Basketball) represented the Athletic Department.

On Wednesday the Athletics Department partnered to help with "Consent Day" in the Student Center. Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione, Softball Coach Bruce Weckworth, and Men's Soccer Coach Peter Mendel took turns in the Dunk Tank to support Health Imperatives which is a local Rape Crisis and Violence Intervention Organization based in Brockton. Members of SAAC and the Men's Soccer program volunteered with various stations for Consent Day throughout the evening.

On Saturday the Curry Women's Soccer and Football Teams participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure on Carson Beach in South Boston.

During the CCC wide SAAC Meeting held at University of New England Curry Women's Lacrosse player Bianca Simeone was voted in as the new CCC SAAC Secretary.

SAAC and the Athletics Department would like to thank all of the Curry community for their help and support all week long!
