Women's Cross Country Preview/Season Outlook

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's cross country team is ready to open the 2019 season on Saturday, September 7 at the James Sheehan Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State at 11:30 a.m.

WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO

The Colonels have eight student-athletes on their roster for this season. Sophomore Susan Hogan (Weymouth, Mass.) will be starting her first season with the team. She was a competitive runner at Weymouth High School with a personal record of 21:41.

Junior Kelsie Rainone (Plainville, Mass.) is a former soccer player who has made a lot of progress over our offseason and has been a front-runner in practices this season.

Some top returners are senior Karina Murcia (Culver City, Calif.), last season's Most Valuable Player, who placed first for the team in every meet last season with a personal best of 23:42. Another top returner is sophomore Ashley Cloutier (Bridgewater, Mass.). Cloutier was the Rookie of the Year last season, often placing in the top three for the team with a personal best of 25:37.

CONFERENCE OUTLOOK

"UNE has been a front runner in our conference and we will be competing at their home course this season," said second-year head coach Darlene Gaudet. "It will provide us some great competition and experience for the meets going forward. We expect to improve our pack time and move up in our conference."

September 7 at James Sheehan Invitational at Fitchburg State – 11:15 a.m.

September 14 at the University of New England Invitational – 10:45 a.m.

September 21 at Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon -10:45 a.m.

October 19 at Suffolk Invitational – 2:00 p.m.

November 2 at CCC Championship (Hosted By Roger Williams) – TBA
