Women's Volleyball Swept By Endicott in Season Finale

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2018 season with a 3-0 loss to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at the MacDonald Gymnasium.

Endicott won by set scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-22 to earn its fourth win in a row and improve to 18-10 overall.

Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) paced Endicott with 10 kills and added nine digs, one service ace, and one block assist. Remi Quesnelle (Sunderland, Mass.) chipped in with seven kills, one dig, and three block assists. Nicole Winkler (Southborough, Mass.) and Emily Diezemann (Peabody, Mass.) each contributed five kills. The Gulls hits .265 as a team and committed only 15 errors in the match.

Lexi Pereira (Attleboro, Mass.) finished with eight kills and five digs. Amanda Wood (Tokyo, Japan) registered seven kills and four digs. Alexis Bell (Salem, Conn.) recorded 21 assists while Jordyn Keith (Whitman, Mass.) and Rachel Damstra (Houston, Texas) posted six digs each.

A 4-0 run gave the Gulls a lead they would never relinquish in the first set. The Colonels clawed back to within five at 14-9 before Endicott pulled away. They closed the set on an 11-4 run capped off with two attack errors from Curry as the Gulls grabbed the early 1-0 advantage.

In the second set, a long-serving spree by Nichole Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) yielded a 23-14 Endicott lead. Six different Gulls recorded a kill in the stanza led by three apiece from Alex Dippel (Fallston, Md.) and Gilbert.

Back-to-back attack errors from Endicott gave Curry a 9-6 lead in the third set. The Colonels then pushed the lead to as many as five before the Gulls erased the deficit. Late in the stanza with the score tied at 21, Endicott tallied four of the last five points to edge Curry in the final set, 25-22.

Curry concludes the season with an 8-17 overall record (1-7 CCC). Endicott moves onto the CCC Tournament and will wait for the pairings for the reveal of their next opponent.
