Volleyball Drops Two at Profs Invitational

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Curry College women's volleyball team was tripped up with 3-0 defeats by Widener University and Ursinus College on Friday night in the opening matches at the Profs Invitational at Rowan University.

The Colonels fell by set scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-23 as the Pride pounded out 44 kills on 87 total attacks with only 12 errors (.368). Amanda Wood (Tokyo, Japan) paced Curry with nine kills in the match while Faith Herity (River Edge, N.J.) and Lexi Pereira (Attleboro, Mass.) added three apiece. Alexis Bell (Salem, Conn.) finished with 15 assists while Pereira pitched in 11 digs.

In the nightcap, the Bears won by set scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-16, but the Colonels finished with 25 total kills on 91 attacks. Wood led the way with six kills while Pereira contributed five kills. Mathews finished with a team-high 11 digs.

Curry (0-3 overall) returns to the court on Saturday, September 8 against Rowan and Keystone at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively at the Profs Invitational.
