Colonels Take Two in Tri-Match With Suffolk and Pine Manor

Milton, Mass- The Curry Volleyball team was able to take both of their matches in their tri-match on Saturday afternoon.

Match One-Curry 3, Suffolk 1

The Colonels were able the first set of their match with the Rams of Suffolk University by a final of 25-16. The Rams would respond to take the second and then the Colonels captured the final two sets to claim the victory.

Nicole Rice added nine kills while Bridget Allison and Leah Pederson paced the Rams with seven apiece.

Nicole Grambley ranked second on the team with six kills.

Match Two-Curry 3, Pine Manor 0

Curry was able to sweep the Gators in three sets (25-22, 25-12, 25-23) behind the consistent play of senior Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, Conn.) and junior Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) who each registered 13 kills on the match.

In a tight first set, the Colonels were able to edge the Gators by three points. Curry gained a 2-0 set advantage with a convincing 25-12 second set victory and the Colonels would close it out in straights with a 25-23 third set win.

Pine Manor was led by Viyanni Johnson, who led the team with 5 kills while Alex Leon contributed a match-high 15 digs.

Libero Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) added a team-high 12 digs for Curry.

The Colonels hit the road for a four-game road trip on Tuesday when they travel to the University of New England for a 7 p.m. contest.
