Women's Volleyball Drops a Tough Three-Setter to Visiting UNE

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Colonels dropped a close three-set match to the visiting University of New England Nor'easters with set scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 28-26. The Nor'easters improved to 6-10 on the season and 3-2 in league play, while the Colonels dropped to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in CCC action.

The University of New England was led by sophomores Emily Rumery (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Courtney Lambrese (Cranston, R.I.) with 12 kills each. Classmate Brooke Gibbons (Miami, Florida) recorded a match-high 34 assists, while freshman Brittany Morrison (Rosemount, Minn.) had another match best with 21 digs.

Curry was led by sophomore Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) with 11 kills, while junior Nicole Grambley (Medford, Mass.) was right behind with eight, while also posting a match-high seven service aces. Junior classmates Makayla Hughes (Franklin, N.H.) and Alyssa Keeney (Coventry, Conn.) had team best and second best assists with 12 and 11, respectively. Freshman Grace Stafford (West Yarmouth, Mass.) also recorded a team-high 12 digs with sophomore Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) right behind with 10.

Both teams return to action Thursday on the road as UNE travels to St. Joseph's (ME) for a 6:30 p.m. start, while the Colonels go to Mount Ida for a 6 p.m. non-conference match.
