Women's Volleyball Drops a 3-0 Decision at League Rival UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Sophomore Grayson Szczepaniak had 10 kills with a .471 attack percentage and senior Leah Janelle added eight winners along with five aces to help lead the University of New England to a 3-0 win over Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball action Tuesday evening (Oct. 14) at the Harold Alfond Forum. Set scores were 25-14, 25-12, and 25-7. The Nor'easters (8-12) move to 3-1 in CCC contests, while the Colonels drop back to 6-16 overall (0-5 CCC).

First-year Brooke Gibbons set up the UNE attack with 26 assists. Classmate Courtney Lambrese chipped in with five kills in seven attempts, and put up three blocks. Sophomore Nikki Mathewson had a team-high eight digs, while first-year Teddi Kramer and Janelle recorded six apiece.

For Curry, sophomore Kayla Pedersen registered four kills, and classmate Makayla Hughes notched eight assists. Sophomore Nicole Grambley, along with first-years Courtney Carroll and Taylor Faieta, combined for 21 digs.

Both squads will be at home for non-conference matches on Thursday, with the Nor'easters entertaining Saint Joseph's College (6:30 p.m.) and the Colonels facing Mount Ida College (6 p.m.). (Recap courtesy of UNE Sports Information)
