Women's Volleyball Cruises Past Visiting Bay Path, 3-1

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College handled Bay Path, 3-1, in non-conference women's volleyball action on Thursday night in Milton. Set scores were 25-20, 25-8, 24-26, 25-17. The Colonels improved to 4-8 on the season, while the Wildcats fell to 1-7.

Curry edged Bay Path 25-20 in the first set, and then in the second set, the Colonels started ahead and did not look back finishing off the Wildcats 25-8. Bay Path turned it around in the third, coming out on top 26-24. However, in the fourth and final set, the Wildcats could not keep up with Curry, as the hosts finished with a 25-17 set and match victory.

The Colonels were led by sophomore Nicole Grambley (No. Attleboro, Mass.) with 12 setting assists, nine kills, and three service aces. Senior Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.) delivered a team best 10 kills. Freshman Courtney Carroll (Fairhaven, Mass.) had a match high 25 digs, while classmate Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) led in blocks, two solo, and one assist.

Bay Path junior Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) had a match best 13 kills. Freshman Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) was right behind Haylette with 10 kills. Sophomore Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) led in setting assists, totaling 17. The only Wildcat senior, Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyne, Conn.), chipped in with 24 digs.

Curry hosts Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Saturday in a non-conference match tipping off at 1:00 p.m., while Bay Path hosts a tri-match beginning at 10:00 a.m. against Westfield State University, followed by a 2:00 p.m. match-up with Green Mountain College.
