Women's Volleyball Tripped Up 3-1 by Visiting UMass Dartmouth

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College absorbed a 3-1 loss to visiting UMass Dartmouth in non-conference women's volleyball action Thursday night in Milton. The Corsairs improved to 2-9 on the season, while the Colonels fell to 6-10.

In the first set, UMass Dartmouth outlasted Curry 26-24 in a back-and-forth affair and then claimed the following set, 25-22. The Colonels maintained a steady lead throughout the third set and came out on top, 25-21. The Corsairs took the match-clinching win with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

UMass Dartmouth was led by sophomore Eliza Bowes (West Yarmouth, Mass.) with 12 kills. Freshman Christina Spinazola (Medway, Mass.) dished out a match-best 31 assists, while sophomore Carina Filosa (Milford, Mass.) also recorded game-high with 41 digs.

Freshman Nicole Grambley (North Attleboro, Mass.) led Curry with a match-high 15 kills. Junior Hannah Robison (Cumberland, R.I.) recorded 20 assists, while freshman Lauren Gaffney (Wallingford, Conn.) added 26 digs.

Both teams return to action on Saturday, hosting respective tri-matches beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Colonels will face visiting Johnson State and Pine Manor, while the Corsairs will play against Plymouth State and Husson.
