Women's Tennis Shut Out Against Ursinus

 KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Ursinus College claimed a 9-0 non-conference victory over Curry College on Thursday at Oak Street Park. The Bears improved to 4-3 overall on the season. The Colonels dropped to 0-18.

Ursinus won all 10 sets played. Maddie Russell (West Chester, Pa.) at No. 2 singles, Madisen Harvey (Audubon, N.J.) at No. 4 and Cara Freedman (West Chester, Pa.) at No. 5 all won their singles matches without dropping a game. Caitlyn Sorelle (Bridgeton, N.J.) topped sophomore Sidara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine) by a 6-0, 6-1 final at No. 1 singles. Summer Burkholder (Denver, Pa.) defeated sophomore Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine) in the final singles match of the day at No. 3 by a 6-0, 6-3 score. With only five players, the Colonels defaulted the No. 6 singles point.

Freedman and Russell teamed for a win at first doubles over Cash-Sortwell and sophomore Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.), 8-1. Sorelle and Burkholder won at No. 2 doubles over Merrill and sophomore Samantha Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.), 8-0. Ursinus won the third doubles point by default.

The Colonels will return north and will next play on Saturday, April 13 at Simmons at noon.
