Women's Tennis Tripped Up By Susquehanna

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to Susquehanna University by a 9-0 final in non-conference action on Tuesday morning at the USTA National Tennis Center. With the victory, the River Hawks improve to 4-1 overall while the Colonels slip to 0-16 overall.

Susquehanna started the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. Ashlynn Searer (Hummelstown, Pa.) and Haley White (Saylorsburg, Pa.) won at first doubles, 8-1, over Sidara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine) and Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.). Abby Benson and Hannah Maykut (Bethlehem, Pa.) captured an 8-2 win at second doubles, while Cassey Fox (Pittsgrove, N.J.) and Amy Jennings (Canadaigua, N.Y.) topped Rachel Lawlor (Meriden, Conn.) and Alexandra Petrucci () by an 8-3 mark.

The River Hawks continued their strong play into the singles portion of the competition, winning all six matches in straight sets. Cash-Sortwell fell at number one singles to Searer 6-1, 6-0. Benson edged Daigle 6-3, 7-5 at number two while Eliza Griffin (Pittsgrove, N.J.) finished off Merrill at third singles 6-4, 6-0.

Susquehanna finished off the final three singles matches only dropping a combined three games.

Curry continues its Spring Break trip on Wednesday, March 13 against the College of St. Scholastica at 8:00 a.m.
