Women's Tennis Captures Two Points in Loss to Wentworth

WATERTOWN, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis lost a 6-2 decision to the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Tuesday night at the Mount Auburn Tennis Club.

The Leopards (1-9 overall, 1-5 CCC) won two of the three doubles matches and then took four singles matches to secure the victory. Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.) won at the top doubles spot while Hannah Erickson (Columbia, Conn.) and Olivia DeLuca (Dracut, Mass.) teamed together at No. 2 for the victory. The Colonels salvaged a point in doubles action as Skylar Lewis (Tiverton, R.I.) and Rachel Lawlor (Meriden, Conn.) edged CiCi Deakin (Standish, Maine) and Beverly LaChapelle (Caracas, Venezuela) by a 9-7 final at No. 3.

The longest singles match of the day came between DeLuca and Curry sophomore Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) at No. 3. The two battled to a split of the first two sets. The match went to a deciding third set with DeLuca edging Daigle, 6-4.

The Colonels picked up its lone singles point of the contest as freshman Hannah Faghan (Whitman, Mass.) defeated Butts in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Curry (0-10 overall, 0-6 CCC) will travel to Roger Williams on Wednesday, October 3 at 4:00. Wentworth returns to action at Gordon on Saturday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m.
