Women's Tennis Outlasted 9-0 By Gordon in CCC Action

MILTON, Mass. – Visiting Gordon College blanked Curry College, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's tennis action Saturday afternoon in Milton. With the victory, the Fighting Scots improve to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Colonels slip to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in CCC action.

The visitors opened by sweeping all three doubles matches. Seniors Justine Hanson (Meadow Vista, Calif.) and Gabrielle Brucker (Eleva, Wis.) defeated sophomore Sidara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine) and freshman Hannah Faghan (Whitman, Mass.), 8-0, at #1. Junior Anne Carsey (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and senior Kaelyn Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) blanked senior Rosario Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) and freshman Hollie Wallace (Wrentham, Mass.), 8-0, at #2. Junior Emily Ontiveros (Sylmar, Calif.) and sophomore Abigail Graves (Whitinsville, Mass.) took care of sophomores Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine) and Samantha Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.), 8-1, at #3.

Singles went the same way for Gordon, with Hanson outpacing Faghan, 6-0, 6-0, at #1. Carsey handled Cash-Sortwell, 6-1, 6-0, at #2. Brucker made quick work of Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.), 6-0, 6-1, at #3. Hall topped Robidoux, 6-1, 6-0, at #4. Anna Mullane (North Chelmsford, Mass.) put away Merrill, 6-3, 6-3, at #5. Madison West (Southampton, N.Y.) defeated Wallace, 6-1, 6-1, at #6.

Curry is back in action on Monday, traveling to Eastern Nazarene for a 3:30 p.m. match. Gordon will next host Wentworth on Tuesday, September 25 at 5:00 p.m.
