Women's Tennis Falls to UMass.-Dartmouth 9-0 in Non-Conference Action

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to visiting UMass.-Dartmouth, 9-0, at the Big Nine Courts on Tuesday afternoon.  With the loss, the Colonels fall to 1-13 on the season, while the Corsairs improve to 8-4 overall.

The Corsairs swept all six singles matches and all three double matches.

UMD's No. 1 singles player, Jenna Lahaie (Lakeville, Mass.) won her match 6-1, 6-0 against Sidara Cash-Sortwell (Portland, Maine).  The Corsair's No. 2 singles player Kerry Magoon (Marshfield, Mass.) claimed her tilt verse Alexis Mclea-Perry (Plymouth, Mass.), 6-0, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels Stephanie Leblanc (Bridgewater, Mass.) was bested by Mollie McCaffrey (Taunton, Mass.), 6-1, 6-0. Jaime Fastino (Rehoboth, Mass.) earned the No. 4 singles win for UMD, 6-1, 6-1 by defeating Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.).  Corsairs Samantha Rollings (Tiverton, R.I.) earned 6-1, 6-0 wins over April Miller (Newton, N.H.) and at the No. 6 position Molina Oung (Bourne, Mass.) defeated Curry's Sam Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.), 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles, the No.1 pair Lahaie and Fastino earned an 8-1 victory over the Colonels Leblanc and Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine).  The No. 2 duo of McCaffrey and Jillian Reichert (Marion, Mass.) bested Curry's Cash-Sortwell and Alexandra Petrucci (Wakefield, R.I.), 8-1.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Corsairs doubles partners, Michelle Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) and Rachel Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) outlasted Miller and Gilbert, 8-1.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday, October 11 at 3:30 when they host Becker College.
