Women's Tennis Edged by CCC Foe Wentworth, 6-3

MILTON, Mass. –The Curry College women's tennis team fell to visiting Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wentworth, 6-3, at the Big Nine Courts on Tuesday afternoon.  The loss drops the Colonels 1-11 on the season and 0-7 in the CCC, while the Leopards improve to 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the CCC.

Curry won two singles matches and took one doubles set.  The Colonels Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) and Rosario Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) were victorious in their singles matches and the duo of April Miller (Newton, N.H.) and Sam Gilbert (Bedford, Mass.) won the lone doubles match for their team.

The Leopard's No. 1 singles player, Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) won her match 6-1, 6-1 against Sidara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine).  WIT's No. 2 singles player Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.) claimed her tilt verse Alexis Mclea-Perry (Plymouth, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels Stephanie Leblanc (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was bested by Sam Webb (Duxbury, Mass.), 6-2, 6-2. Daigle earned the No. 4 singles win for Curry, outlasting Jasmine Andrade (Dorchester, Mass.), 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 5 the Leopard's Sam McGibbon (Pembroke, Mass.) earned 6-1, 6-1 wins over April Miller (Newton, N.H.).  In the final singles match Robidoux was victorious over WIT's Mackenzie Jones (Granville, Mass.), 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, the No.1 pair Briggs and Webb outlasted the Colonels Perry and LeBlanc by a score of 8-4.  The No. 2 duo of Sollecito and McGibbon bested Curry's Cash-Sortwell and Alexandra Petrucci (Wakefield, R.I.), 8-0.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Colonels doubles partners, Miller and Gilbert earned an 8-0 victory over Andrade and Jones.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. when they travel to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College.  The Leopards also return to action on Wednesday when they travel to non-conference opponent Lesley for a 7:00 p.m. match.
