Women's Tennis Earns First Match Win of the Season With a 9-0 Sweep at Mount Ida College

NEWTON, Mass. –The Curry College women's tennis team won their first match of the season defeating Mount Ida, 9-0, on Friday afternoon.  With the win the Colonels improve to 1-10 on the season while the Mustangs fall to 1-5 overall.

Curry swept all six singles matches and took all three doubles sets. 

The Colonel's No. 1 singles player, Sidara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine) won her match 6-1, 6-3 against Ginger Boodakian (Burlington, Mass.).  Curry's No. 2 singles player Alexis Mclea-Perry (Plymouth, Mass.) claimed her tilt verse Molly O'Donnell (Danvers, Mass.), 6-2, 6-2. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels Stephanie Leblanc (East Bridgewater, Mass.) bested Cierra Peaslee (Killingly, Conn.), 7-6, 6-3. Alison Daigle (Edgartown, Mass.) earned the No. 4 singles win for Curry, 6-1, 6-1 by defeating Yuliana Chairez (Waltham, Mass.). At No. 5 the Colonel's April Miller (Newton, N.H.) earned 6-0, 6-1 wins over Amanda Garner (Coventry, R.I.).  In the final singles match Rosario Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) was victorious over Mount Ida's Hannah Bassett (Needham, Mass.), 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, the No.1 pair Perry and LeBlanc outlasted the Mustangs Boodakian and Peaslee by a score of 8-6.  The No. 2 duo of Cash-Sortwell and Alexandra Petrucci (Wakefield, R.I.) bested Mount Ida's O'Donnell and Garner, 8-0.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Colonels doubles partners, Miller and Gilbert earned an 8-0 victory over Chairez and Kelsey Wallace (Hamilton, N.J.).

The Colonels return to action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they travel to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College.
