Women's Tennis Picked Ninth in CCC Preseason Coaches' Poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Curry Women's Tennis team has been projected ninth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Coaches' Poll, which was revealed on Thursday afternoon.

Curry College women's tennis head coach Norm Nguyen enters his third season at the helm and look to make improvements with a group of returners and newcomers to this year's squad. The team will lean on Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.) and Jennifer Dube (Coventry, Conn.). Other key returners include Alexis McLea-Perry (Plymouth, Mass.), Taylor Johnson (Abington, Mass.) and Katelyn Harrington (Wesport, Mass.). The returners will help integrate the eight freshman the Colonels welcome to the 2017 roster.  2017 should be an exciting year as the team looks to improve their overall and conference records.

Nichols captured the first spot in the poll with 80 total points and eight first place votes. The final first place vote went to Endicott, which lands in the second spot with 72 points. Roger Williams (62), Gordon (56) and Western New England (44) round out the top five of the poll.

Eastern Nazarene (30), Wentworth (27), Salve Regina (23), and Curry (11) close the bottom half of the poll.

The Colonels open the season on Tues. Sept. 5 when they host Rhode Island College in a 4:00 p.m. match.
