Women's Tennis Outlasted 9-0 by CCC Opponent Gordon College

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team lost to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon College 9-0 this afternoon at the Big Nine Courts in Milton, Mass.  The loss drops the Colonels to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the CCC.  With the win, the Scots even their record to 2-2 on the season and 2-1 in CCC action.

The Scots swept the Colonels in all six single matches and three doubles.

Gordon's No. 1 singles player, Abbie Denney (Peoria, Ariz.) won her match 6-1, 6-0 against Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.).  The Scot's No. 2 singles player Justine Hanson (Meadow Vista, Calif.) claimed her tilt verse Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.), 6-0, 6-0. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels Katelyn Harrington (Westport, Mass.) was bested by Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.), 6-1, 6-0. Haley Bean (Trumbull, Conn.) earned the No. 4 singles win for Gordon, 6-1, 6-0 by defeating Alex Moschetto (Hampton Falls, N.H.). The Scott's Emily Leahy (Lake Zurich, Ill.) earned 6-0, 6-0 wins over Taylor Johnson (Abington, Mass.) and at the No. 6 position Emily Ontiveros (Sylmar, Calif.) defeated Curry's Stephanie Leblanc (East Bridgewater, Mass.), 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, the No.1 pair Denney and Hanson earned an 8-0 victory over the Colonels Ferris and Harrison.  The No. 2 duo of Kaelyn Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) and Bean bested Curry's Prete and Moschetto, 8-2.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Scot's doubles partners, Leahy and Caron outlasted Jennifer Dube (Coventry, Conn.) and Leblanc, 8-2.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday, September 14 at 3:00 when they host CCC opponent Salve Regina.  The Scots also return to action on Wednesday, September 14, when they travel to CCC opponent Wentworth.
