Women's Tennis Edged by Visiting Saint Joseph's, 5-4, in Season Finale

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to Saint Joseph's (Conn.), 5-4, on Saturday afternoon at the Big Nine Courts.  With the win the Blue Jays improve to 7-6 on the season, while the Colonels fall to 4-12.

Curry earned two out of three doubles matches and took two out of six singles matches.

At No. 1, Rebecca Mauri (Meriden, Conn.) won her match 6-2, 6-1 against Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.).  The Colonel's No. 2 singles player Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) claimed her tilt verse the Blue Jay's Lucy Roberge (Willington, Conn.), 6-3, 7-5.  At the No. 3 slot, Curry's Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine) was bested by Sakinah Abdulsalam (Bristol, Conn.), 6-2, 6-3. Lauren Ferris (Shelton, Conn.) earned the No. 4 singles win for the Colonels outlasting Ashley Savino (Old Saybrook, Conn.), 2-6, 7-5, 5-2. At the No. 6 position, USJ's Tara Smith (Palmer, Mass.) defeated Katelyn Harrington (Westport, Mass.), 6-2, 6-1. In the final singles match win for the Blue Jays, No. 6 Serena Sundara (Windsor, Conn.)  earned, 6-2, 6-1 victories over Jennifer Dube (Coventry, Conn.).

In doubles, the No.1 pair Prete and Duval earned an 8-5 triumph over USJ's Mauri and Roberge.  The No. 2 duo of Abdulsalam and Savino bested Curry's Erickson and Ferris, 8-4.  And at the No. 3 position, the Colonels Erickson and Rosaria Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) were edged by Leah Nguyen (West Hartford, Conn.) and Natalia Rozio (Newington, Conn.).
