Women's Tennis Earns an 8-1 Win Over Visiting Lesley University

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team defeated Lesley University, 8-1, at the Big Nine Courts on Sunday afternoon.  With the win the Colonels improve to 4-10 on the season, while the Lynx fall to 2-10 overall.

Curry won all three doubles matches before taking five of six singles flights to earn the victory.

Curry's Kayle Prete (Orange, Conn.) and Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) topped Lesley sophomores Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.), 8-2 in the top doubles match before Katie Harrington (Westport, Mass.) and Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.) downed Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) and Diana Watson (Acton, Mass.), 8-4 at No. 2. The Colonels completed the doubles sweep when Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine) and Alex Moschetto (Hampton Falls, N.H.) defeated Rosie Heller (State College, Pa.) and Courtney Goggin (Cheshire, Conn.), 8-1 in the third match.

Kiddie earned Lesley's lone win of the day with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Prete at the No. 1 slot.

Erickson used identical set scores of 6-2 to down Pereira in No. 3 singles while Ferris followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Watson in the fourth match. Harrington posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Heller while Moschetto passed by Goggin in the sixth match 6-3, 6-2. Love earned a victory in second singles by a Lesley retirement due to injury.

The Colonels return to action on Friday, October 16 at 3:00 when they travel to UMass-Boston.  The Lynx will return to New England Collegiate Conference play on Thursday when they host Becker College at 7:30 p.m.
