MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Eastern Nazarene, 7-2, on Friday night. With the win the Lions improve to 4-7 on the season and 2-5 in the CCC, while the Colonels fall to 3-9 overall and 0-7 in the CCC.
The Colonels Rosaria Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) earned her team's only wins in her both her matches on the night. At the No. 6 position in singles, she defeated the Lions Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.), 6-1, 6-2. At the No.3 spot in doubles, Robidoux and her partner Gabriella Tedeschi (East Greenwich, R.I.) outlasted Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) and Sutton, 9-7.
ENC earned five straight singles matches. At No. 1, Adele Duval (Dallas, Texas) won her match 6-2, 6-0 against Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.). The Lion's No. 2 singles player Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) claimed her tilt verse Curry's Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine), 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 3 slot, the Colonel's Katelyn Harrington (Westport, Mass.) was bested by Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.), 6-0, 6-4. Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) earned the No. 4 singles win for ENC defeating Alex Moschetto (Hampton Falls, N.H.), 6-3, 6-4. In the final singles match win for the Lions, No. 5 Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) earned 6-3, 6-2 victories over Gabriella Tedeschi (East Greenwich, R.I.).
In doubles, the No.1 pair Duval and Steelman earned a 9-1 triumph over the Colonels Prete and Harrington. The No. 2 duo of Burrello and Cressman bested Curry's Erickson and Moschetto, 9-8.
The Colonels return to action on Saturday, October 3 at 2:00 when they travel to Western New England for a CCC match-up. The Lions also return to action on Saturday, October 3, when they travel to Gordon College for a 3:00 p.m. CCC match.
