Women's Tennis Tripped Up at Rhode Island College, 9-0

Providence, R.I.-Senior Jessica Rieman (South Weymouth, MA) picked up her first career doubles win as Rhode Island College downed Curry, 9-0, in collegiate women's tennis action played at the RIC Tennis Courts on Monday afternoon.

RIC (8-1) opened by sweeping all three doubles contests from the visiting Colonels (3-8).

Senior Sadie Campanella (Chepachet, RI) and junior Julie Reddy (Greenville, RI) combined to defeat junior Kayle Prete (Orange, CT) and senior Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, CT), 8-2, at No. 1 doubles.

Freshman Katherine Braganca (Pawtucket, RI) and sophomore Isabella Romeo (Greenville, RI) topped Curry senior Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, ME) and freshman Katelyn Harrington (Westport, MA), 8-5, at No. 2 doubles.

Rieman and senior Tressa Cannata (Cranston, RI) downed sophomore Alexandra Moschetto (Hampton Falls, NH) and freshman Rosie Robidoux (Agawam, MA), 8-1, at the third doubles flight.

The Anchorwomen rolled through all six singles flights to pick up their eighth straight win and fourth shutout of the year.

Campanella defeated Prete (6-0, 6-0) at No. 1 singles, while Reddy downed Love (6-2, 6-4) at No. 2 singles.

Cannata picked up a win (6-0, 6-1) over Erickson at No. 3 singles and Braganca defeated Harrington (6-3, 6-1) at fourth singles for her first collegiate win.

Freshman Daniela Chavez (North Providence, RI) picked up her first collegiate win (6-4, 6-0) against Moschetto at No. 5 singles and Romeo downed Robidoux at No. 6 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at Bridgewater State on Wednesday, Sept. 30 (3 p.m.).  Curry also resumes play on Wednesday, Sept. 30 when they host Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Eastern Nazarene at 3:30 p.m.  (Match Recap Courtesy of RIC Sports Information)
