Women's Tennis Absorbs 9-0 Loss at CCC Opponent Gordon College

WENHAM, Mass.—Gordon Women's Tennis increased its win streak to three matches with a 9-0 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Curry on Tuesday at the Brigham Tennis Courts. Twelve different Gordon players recorded a victory for the hosts, including first career victories for freshmen Kaelyn Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) and Emily Leahy (Lake Zurich, Ill.).

Hall and sophomore Maddie Berry (Paso Robles, Calif.) kicked things off with an 8-1 win at third doubles in their first action this spring. Katherine Jeffreys (Parkton, Md.) and Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) followed suit with an 8-2 triumph at second doubles.

CCC Rookie of the Week Justine Hanson (Meadow Vista, Calif.) and freshman Gabrielle Brucker (Eleva, Wis.) trailed early against Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) and Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine), but rebounded for an 8-5 at the top spot.

The Fighting Scots rolled through singles play, taking all six matches. Abbie Denney (Peoria, Ariz.) dropped only one game against Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.) to record her second straight win at first singles. Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.) and Haley Bean (Trumbull, Conn.) quickly followed the lead with straight-set victories of their own. Caron bested Erickson 6-1, 6-1 and Bean won in two sets without losing a game.

Leahy won her first collegiate match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rosaria Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) at sixth singles. CCC Player of the Week Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and Alexa DiDomizio (Mahwah, N.J.) finished things out in straight sets as well.

Gordon looks ahead to Thursday when they travel to Providence to take on Rhode Island College. The Anchorwomen have beaten Gordon 5-4 in back-to-back seasons. Curry will travel to Anna Maria on Friday for a non-conference match.  (Match recap courtesy of Gordon College Sports Information)
