Women's Tennis Falls to Conference Rival Roger Williams, 9-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to visiting conference opponent Roger Williams, 9-0, at the Big Nine Courts on Wednesday afternoon.  With the win, the Hawks even their overall record to 3-3 and improve to 2-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Colonels evened their overall record to 3-3 and 2-2 in the CCC.

The Hawks swept all six singles matches and all three double matches. 

In singles, at the #1 position, Roger William's senior Sam Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) knocked off Curry's senior Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.), 6-1, 6-1.  At the #2 slot Emily Mongello (Plymouth, Mass.) was defeated by senior Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.), 6-1, 6-2. At #3 the Hawks sophomore Lauren Schmidt (South Windsor, Conn.) took care of the Colonels freshman Molly Louis (Guilford, Conn.), 6-1, 6-0. At #4, senior Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) was bested by senior Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.), 6-3, 6-3.  At the #5 position sophomore Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) fell to freshman Harley Kaiserman (Setauket, N.Y.), 6-4, 6-1.  And in the final singles match, Roger Williams's freshman Emma Limburg (New London, N.H.) captured 6-0, 6-0 victories over freshman Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.). 

In doubles, the Hawks earned all three points when Curran and Dutton teamed up to beat Mongello and Chuha, 8-3 at #1.  At #2, Schmidt and junior Alexandra Brown (Kennett, Mo.) defeated Love and Mulrooney, 8-3.  In the final doubles match and #3 slots, Limburg and sophomore Adriana Maconochie (Easton, Conn.) overpowered seniors Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) and Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.), 8-0. 

The Colonels next match is away at conference opponent Salve Regina on September 21 in a 1:00 p.m. match.  The Hawks host non-conference foe Colby-Sawyer on September 20 at 4:00 p.m.
