Women's Tennis Earns First Conference Win of the Season Defeating Eastern Nazarene, 8-1

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team earned their first conference match of the season defeating Eastern Nazarene, 8-1, at the Big Nine Courts on Monday afternoon.

The Colonels lost just one singles match and swept all three doubles matches.

In singles at the #1 spot, senior Emily Mongello (Plymouth, Mass.) knocked off her opponent, sophomore Kathryn McLaughlin (Huntington Station, N.Y.), 6-0, 6-0.  At the #2 slot senior Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) defeated freshman Sarah Layton (Bonney Lake, Wash.), 6-0, 6-0, at #3 freshman Molly Louis (Guilford, Conn.) took care of sophomore Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-0, at #4 senior Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) was bested by senior Juju Atwater (Weymouth, Mass.), 6-7, 6-7, and 5-7, 1-7 in a tie breaker, at #5 sophomore Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) conquered senior Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.), 5-2 and in the final singles match, senior Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) captured 6-0, 6-0 victories over freshman Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine). 

In doubles, the Colonels earned all three points when Mongello and freshman Kayla Prete beat McLaughlin and Layton, 8-4 at #1.  At #2, Chuha and Love defeated Burrello and Atwater, 8-5 and in the final doubles Curley and senior Elizabeth Zarkades overpowered Waddle and Lariviere, 8-0. 

The Colonels next match is away at conference opponent Endicott College in a 3:30 match.  The Lions also take on a CCC opponent in Gordon College on September 10 at 4:00 p.m.
