Women's Tennis Captures 8-1 Victory Over Visiting Conference Opponent Gordon College

MILTON, Mass. - Junior Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) won both her singles and doubles matches as the Curry women's tennis team earned an, 8-1, Commonwealth Coast Conference win over visiting Gordon College on Friday afternoon. 

With the win the Colonels improve to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the CCC.  The Fighting Scots sink to 4-8 overall and 2-5 in league matches.

Curry claimed all three doubles points and five out of one singles matches to sport an 8-1 win.


In doubles matches, juniors Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) and Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) defeated freshman Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) and senior Sarah Hickey (Stony Brook, N.Y.), 8-4 at the top slot. Senior Jessie Dupre (North Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Eva Kenna (Harvard, Mass.) dropped an 8-0 decision at #2 to junior Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) and freshman Kimberly Love (Windsor, Conn.). At the #3 position, juniors Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) and Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) took care of sophomores Hannah Damon (Windsor, Conn.) and Rachel Kauffman (Harleysville, Pa.), 8-3.
The Colonels were successful in five singles matches.  Mulrooney defeated Drescher at #1, 6-0, 6-1, at the #2 slot, Mulrooney fell to Hickey, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6, Dupre suffered a loss at #3 to the Colonels' Love, 6-1, 6-3, Chuha handled Damon at #4, 6-1, 6-1, Zarkades conquered Kenna at #5, 6-2, 6-1 and Curley beat freshman Murielle Renfort (Brockton, Mass.) at the final spot, #6, 6-1, 6-1.      

Curry will travel to CCC opponent Wentworth on October 6 in a 10:30 a.m. match.  The Fighting Scots will host Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College on October 6, for a 10:30 a.m. start.
