Women's Tennis Swept, 9-0, by Visiting Conference Rival Endicott College

MILTON, Mass. – Endicott College swept Curry College in both singles and doubles matches to defeat the Colonels, 9-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon.   Curry fell to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference in the loss.  With the win the Gulls improved to 7-1 and remained undefeated at 4-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Curry junior Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) lost to Endicott’s junior Emilie Cloutier (Lewiston, Maine), 10-3 in a third set tiebreaker at #1 singles (6-3, 2-6, 10-3).  The Gull’s sophomore Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) took care of Colonels junior Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) at #2 singles, 6-2, 6-0.  Sophomore Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) rounded out the top three singles matches for EC to hand freshman Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) a 6-0, 6-4 loss. 

Endicott was victorious in all three doubles matches.   At #1, Mongello and junior Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.) fell to Egbert and Martel, 8-1.  In the #2 doubles match, Mulrooney and junior Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) were defeated 8-3, by Cloutier and senior Gina Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass.). In the final doubles match at #3, Love and junior Elizabeth Zarkades (Beverly, Mass.) lost 8-3, to sophomore Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) and freshman Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.).

The Colonels will host Salem State in a non-conference match on Monday, September 24 for a 3:30 p.m. start.  The Gulls will next take on conference opponent Wentworth on Tuesday, September 25 in a 3:30 p.m. match start.
