Women's Tennis Falls to Roger Williams, 9-0, in First CCC Match of the Season

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women’s Tennis team began Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 9-0 win against Curry College Saturday afternoon.

Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) and Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) earned a 4-1 win via retire over Emily Mongello (Milton, Mass.) and Megan Mulrooney (South Boston, Mass.) at #1 doubles. The Hawks would also win a pair of 8-4 matches at #2 and #3 doubles, with Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) and Adriana Maconochie (Easton, Mass.) at #2 and Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.) and Lauren Schmidt (South Windsor, Conn.).

At singles play, Curran took a 6-2, 6-1 decision at the #1 flight, while Klein defeated Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) 6-2, 6-4 at #2.  Schmidt picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Lauren Chuha (Reading, Mass.) at #3, and Dutton won 6-1, 6-1 at #4 against Devin Curley (Marshfield, Mass.). Maconochie and Hilton wrapped things up with respective wins of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and #6 against Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine) and Heidi Evans (Harwich, Mass.).

Roger Williams (2-1, 1-0 CCC) will travel to Western New England University on Tuesday, while Curry (1-2, 0-1 CCC) hosts Salve Regina on Tuesday. (Match Recap Courtesy of Roger Williams Sports Information)
