Women's Soccer Plays to Draw at Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. – Curry College and the Wentworth Institute of Technology played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer action at Sweeney Field.

The Colonels received its lone goal from junior Tayla Randall (Walpole, Mass.) while the Leopards were fueled by a goal from sophomore Ashley Molnar (Northridge, Calif.). Curry goalkeeper Oliver Hutchinson (Scituate, Mass.) finished with 12 saves—including two in overtime—while Wentworth junior netminder Allison Haynes (Shelton, Conn.) made four.

The Colonels took the lead as Randall netted her twelfth of the season off a penalty kick. Randall was fouled in the box, which led to the PK. She sent a line drive to the lower right corner to give Curry the 1-0 lead in the 54th minute.

Molnar tallied the equalizer in the 89th minute on an unassisted tally. She lofted a ball on target from 40 yards out, which went off the tips of Hutchinson's fingers and into the Curry net for the 1-1 score.

The Colonels took four shots in overtime with only one landing on the net that was turned away by Haynes. Curry junior Alyson Hampston (North Easton, Mass.) put the lone shot on net in overtime by making contact on the ball with her right knee, but Haynes was able to keep the game tied at 1-1, the eventual final.
