Women's Soccer Drops League Tilt at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Curry College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at the University of New England on Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

Senior Jessie Maywalt (Wall, N.J.) scored in the 16th minute to supply the lone goal for the Nor'easters, who improved to 7-4-2 overall (2-2-0 CCC). Junior Jenna Pannone (Prospect, Conn.) did her part in goal by making seven saves in goal to preserve the shutout.

UNE jumped in front with 29:34 remaining in the first half after sophomore Alyssa Boilard (Wilbraham, Mass.) served in the ball into the box towards the far post and eventually found the left foot of Maywalt. She gathered possession and put a shot to the right of Colonels' freshman goalkeeper Oliver Hutchinson (Scituate, Mass.) for the 1-0 lead.

Hutchinson finished with seven saves against eight shots to lead the Colonels.

Curry (6-9-0 overall, 1-3-0 CCC) remains on the road and heads to Gordon College on Saturday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. The University of New England returns to action at home against Western New England University on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
