Women's Soccer Shut Out at Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost a non-conference battle to Plymouth State University by a 3-0 final on Tuesday afternoon at Arold Field.

Lizzie Bloch (Los Angeles, Calif.), Sarah Hicks (Sutton, Mass.), and Kate Martin (Westmoreland, N.H.) each netted a goal for the Panthers, who improved to 4-1-0. Four different Plymouth State student-athletes registered two points apiece.

Bloch opened the scoring with as she connected on a header off a corner from Sabrina Sweeeney (Raymond, N.H.) in the 41st minute. The header went off the hands of the Colonels goalkeeper Maggie Chamberlain (Taunton, Mass.) and into the back of the net.

In the second half, Hicks added a goal in the 59th minute off a corner to the far post that was one-timed with the assist going to Mallory Lloyd (Hartland, Vt.). The Panthers tacked on the final goal of the afternoon as Martin headed in a shot in the box off a corner from Sweeney for the final margin.

Chamberlain finished with 10 saves in her first career start. Plymouth State held a 29-9 advantage in shots. Elena Register (Helena, Ala.) recorded six saves for her second clean sheet of the season.

Curry (5-3-0 overall) will next host Fitchburg State University on Thursday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. Plymouth State returns to action at Southern Vermont College on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
