Women's Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Four With Triumph Over Eastern Nazarene

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games, defeating Eastern Nazarene College 3-0 on Thursday night at Walter M. Katz Field.

The Colonels (5-1-0 overall) benefited from two goals from the sophomore Tayla Randall (Walpole, Mass.), who tallied her team-leading fifth goal on the season. The Walpole native scored her first goal just four minutes into the contest and had netted her second by the 15th minute. Eastern Nazarene (2-3-0 overall) hung tough but couldn't overcome a 27-9 deficit in shots.

Curry jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the fourth minute after Randall rebounded the ball off the crossbar, settled it and put it past Lions keeper Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.).

Randall didn't waste much time before adding to her goal total, finding the back of the net once again in the 15th minute. Randall settled the ball from a cross in from Samantha Borges (Somerset, Mass.) and Randall connected on the shot and put it past Moschini to put Curry up 2-0.

The final goal came in the 33rd minute as Sarah Stearns (Middleboro, Mass.) deposited the ball in the back of the net to put the Colonels up, 3-0.

Junior goalkeeper Katelyn DeMaio (North Andover, Mass.) recorded one save to record the clean sheet. Freshman keeper Maggie Chamberlain (Taunton, Mass.) played the final 45 minutes of action, making three saves. Moschini finished with eight saves for the Lions.

Curry will next travel to Salve Regina on Saturday, September 15 at 3:00 p.m. for their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener. Eastern Nazarene opens conference play on Saturday in a road contest at Mitchell at 1:00 p.m.
