Women's Soccer Alumni Game Recap

MILTON, Mass. – On Sunday, April 22, several former Colonels returned to Walter M. Katz Field to play a friendly match against members of the current Curry Women's Soccer Team in the seventh annual Women's Soccer Alumni Game. It was a highly successful event attended by over 35 alumni, the largest turnout since Coach Tassinari started coaching at Curry in 2012.

"Connecting the present with the past is very important to me and my coaching staff," said seventh-year coach Jason Tassinari. "I was so happy that my current players could make an emotional and visual connection with some of the players who paved the way for where they are today."

"Our numbers increase every year which is great. We always have a tremendous amount of enthusiasm at the alumni game which is very exciting," said Coach Tassinari.  "What's satisfying for me is that several of the alumni who attended the game didn't actually play for me (prior to 2012). I think it shows that we are doing a good job of reaching out to all the former players and making them feel like they are still part of the program. We certainly love and appreciate all of them."

There was also a wide range graduation years playing in the alumni game.

"We had players from the class of 2018 playing alongside some players from the class of 1981 and 1983," says Coach Taz. "It may look like a game, but in reality, it is a social engagement.  Re-connecting with my former players who sacrificed so much is always fun for me and my coaching staff. It's a chance to reminisce, share stories and talk about some great memories."
