Women's Soccer Shut Out by CCC Rival Endicott, 4-0

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Soccer team fell to visiting Endicott College, 4-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Walter M. Katz Field on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Colonels to 8-5-3 on the season and 1-3-2 in the CCC.  With the win the Gulls improve to 8-4-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the CCC.

Endicott controlled play in the first half holding a 14-1 shot advantage.  Strong play by the Curry defense along with nine stops in net from sophomore Haley Rice (Lexington, Mass.) however held the Gulls to just one goal.  At the 37:30 minute mark Samantha Lello (Shelton, Conn.) scored the eventual game-winner with help from Shannon Hickey (East Haddam, Conn.) to give Endicott the 1-0 lead heading into intermission.

The Gulls continued to control play in the second half, outshooting the Colonels 8-3 and tallying three more scores. Endicott netted three unanswered goals in an eight-minute span. At 64:40 Hickey netted an unassisted goal after striking the ball over the shoulder of Rice. Five minutes later Rachel Hanna (Chelmsford, Mass.) passed to Mary Verneris (Hamden, Conn.) from the corner of the field for Endicott's third goal of the game.    Rounding out the scoring was Catherine Elkas (Holden, Mass.) at 72:37 to secure the 4-0 victory.

Endicott outshot Curry 22-4 and held a slight advantage in corners, 7-5. 

Rice was credited with the loss in goal for the Colonels making an impressive 10 stops. Shelby Elwell (Litchfield, Conn.) recorded three saves in goal for the Gulls in the win.

Curry travels to University of New England for a 6:30 p.m. Commonwealth Coast Conference contest on Wednesday, October 18. Endicott hosts Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wentworth on Wednesday, October 18 at 4 p.m.
