Women's Soccer Shut Out 5-0 by Wheaton College in Non-Conference Play

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Soccer team fell to visiting Wheaton College, 5-0, at the Walter M. Katz Field on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Colonels to 3-2 on the season while the Lions improve to 3-0-1.

Wheaton controlled play in the first half holding a 9-1 shot advantage.  The Lions got on the board first, just 3:28 into the contest. Aymara O'Brien Pappalardo (Easton, Conn.) sent a cross pass to Kaylee Sye (Acton, Mass.) who one-timed it past the glove of Curry's goaltender Kristen Buzzotta (Lynnfield, Mass.). The Lions took a two-goal lead at 19:09 on an unassisted tally by Hannah Lepordo (Sudbury, Mass.).  The Colonels Cassie Grasso (Wilmington, Mass.) took the lone shot for her team but the Lions keeper Leann Wolf (Santa Maria, Calif.) was there to make the stop.

Wheaton continued to control play in the second half, outshooting Curry 16-4. The Lions netted three more scores in the opening 15 minutes to extend their lead to five. Lepordo assisted Megan Healy (Huntington, N.Y.) before she put away another two for a hat-trick on the night. Both of Lepordos' goals were unassisted.  Her seven point effort on three goals and one helper was a game-high.  Grasso landed two more shots on net while Jules Petrucelli (Milford, Conn.) and Soleil Galagarza (Pawtucket, R.I.) each had one.  Wheaton's Alexa Barbagallo (Bridgewater, N.J.) played in net for 39:04 minutes in the second half making two saves to hold onto the team's shutout.

Wheaton outshot Curry 25-5 and held the advantage in corners, 5-3.

Wolf made two stops in 50:56 minutes in net for the Lions before giving way to Barbagallo who also made two stops during the remainder of the game.
