Women Soccer Blanked 4-0 by Commonwealth Coast Conference Rival Wentworth

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Women's Soccer team fell to visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology 4-0 Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference play. The loss drops the Colonels to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the CCC. With the victory, the Leopards improve to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in the CCC.

The teams battled back and forth, with both teams possessing the ball in the midfield. The Leopards would get on the board 30 minutes into the game when Senior Mykaela Scarpace (Marlborough, Mass.) chipped a pass into the box and Senior Amanda Weinberger (Colchester, Conn.) got her head on the ball and elevated past the keeper. Wentworth took a 1-0 lead into the half.

Wentworth didn't wait long in the second half to extend the lead; Weinberger would find the back of the net 25 seconds in for her second goal of the game with an assist from Sophomore Madyson Reno (Simi Valley, Calif.). Wentworth added their third goal of the game at the 52nd minute when Junior Emily Richard corralled her own rebound and found the far corner. In the 89th minute, the Leopards added the final goal of the game when Freshman Sidney Brogan (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched her fourth goal of the season. 

Senior Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) takes the loss for the Colonels, falling to 3-2 on the season. Stott faced 11 shots, stopping eight. Freshman Kristen Buzzotta (Lynnfield, Mass.) saw nine minutes in net, facing no shots. Freshman Katelyn DeMaio saw eight minutes in net, facing two shots and making one save.

Sophomore Micaela Robinson (Goshen, N.Y.) picks up the win for the Leopards, improving to 4-0 on the season. Robinson faced two shots on net, making two save.

The Leopards return to action Thursday, September 15 when they travel to Brandeis. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

The Colonels return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 13 when they welcome the visiting Cougars of Clark University. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
