MILTON, Mass. –The Curry Women's Soccer and Curry Football programs participated in a community service event on Saturday, April 9th at Carson Beach in Boston. The teams volunteered at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure which raises money and awareness for breast cancer.
"Doing community service is so important", said 5th year Curry Women's Soccer Coach Jason Tassinari. "We all have two hands…one to help ourselves, the second to help others. The players and the coaches get a unique opportunity to go out in the community, give back, and make a real difference. It was such a rewarding experience for my players and my coaching staff to help out at the Komen Race. It's a great event for a cause that touches all of us."
The Curry players helped at the Children's Tent, assisted with the registration process, and handed out food to the race participants.
"Colonel Football finds it very rewarding to volunteer for the Susan B Komen breast cancer race", said 10th year coach Skip Bandini. "We will always be glad to support the community in any way possible and certainly a charitable event such as this."
"I want to give my heartfelt thanks to both Coach Tassinari and Coach Bandini for bringing such awesome young men and women to volunteer at the Komen Mass Race for the Cure on Saturday", says Tony Secinaro, Komen Race For The Cure Volunteer Coordinator. "The Men's Football team and Women's Soccer team were invaluable in making this year's race such as success. We were scrambling for help early on before the other volunteers arrived, and the teams were there early and more than willing to dive in where we needed them and help get things on track."
