Women's Soccer Absorbs a 2-0 Loss to Visiting Conference Foe Endicott

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College, 2-0 on Saturday morning at the Walter M. Katz Field. With the win the Gulls improve to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the CCC.  The Colonels fell to 10-3 overall and 2-3 in the CCC.

Endicott controlled most of the first half outshooting Curry 16-5.  Colonel's goalkeeper Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) was solid in net coming up with 10 stops. Stott played very smart as most of the Gulls shots forced her to make a diving or leaping save.  Endicott's Emily Rodewald (Canton, Conn.) and Sharlotte Pernice (West Springfield, Mass.) lead their team in shots.  Curry had two shots land on net.  The Colonel's Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) took a strike at the 20-yard line that went just over the head of the Gull's goalkeeper Caroline Armbruster (Stow, Vt.) and off the post.  Neither team could find the back of the net and after time expired they entered half-time with a score of 0-0.

It didn't take long for Endicott to take the lead and get on the scoreboard first.  Just 1:26 into the second frame, the Gulls Ashley Mueskes (Georgetown, Mass.) was awarded a corner-kick.  Mueskes kicked the ball that sailed over the head of Stott and into the top right corner of the net.  At the 68:03 Endicott put up their second and final of the day.  Their second tally came off another corner kick taken by Mueskes who was awarded the assist.  This time the ball was in the air in the 18-yard box.  Rachel Hanna (Chelmsford, Mass.) jumped and headed the ball directly past the glove of Stott.  Curry took another five shots but only two were on net with Armbruster making the saves.  The Gulls lead the Colonels in shots at 11-5.  The two goals from Endicott proved to be enough as they earned their sixth overall victory and third win in the conference.

The Colonels finished with 10 shots and three corner kicks.  The Gulls finished with 27 shots and eight corner kicks.

Stott made an impressive 15 saves in net taking the loss.  Armbruster made four stops for the win.

Curry returns to action on Wednesday, October 14 when they host Suffolk University in a 4:00 p.m. game start.  Endicott returns to action also on Wednesday when they host Tufts in a 4:00 p.m. start.
