MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team defeated Emmanuel College, 1-0 in double overtime on Thursday night at the Walter M. Katz Field. With the win Curry remains undefeated improving to 6-0 overall.  The Saints fell to 2-5 on the season.

The teams battled each other to a scoreless first half.  Emmanuel held the slight advantage in shots at 8-7.  The Colonels goaltender Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) was solid between the pipes stopping seven of the Saints shots that landed on net.   Out of Curry's eight shots the Saints sophomore goaltender Victoria LaRoche (Hudson, N.H.) needed to make just four saves.  Junior Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) had some good chances but LaRoche was playing strong not allowing a Colonel score.  Emmanuel also led in corner kicks, 3-2.  The squads struggled to get the go ahead tally but after 45 minutes of play they entered half time at 0-0.

The Saints came out on fire to start the second half.  They outshot the Colonels 10-1 in the opening 20 minutes of the final stanza.  Stott was incredible in net while coming up with another six saves in that time span.  Curry couldn't find a way to get through Emmanuel's defense while getting off just one strike.  The Colonels managed to get off another four for a regulation total of 11 while the Saints had 21. Stott made an impressive 15 saves while LaRoche made a notable seven.  After 90 minutes of play the whistle blew and the teams headed into overtime.

The first overtime showed even shots at two apiece.  Both netminders were forced to make just one save.  The play between teams was pretty even with back and forth action in both defensive zone.  Emmanuel came out with the first shot in the second overtime but Stott was there to make the save.  Curry answered back with a strike of their own but this time it ended in a goal.  The Colonels received the ball back after the Emmanuel shot and just 1:34 into the double overtime Curry earned their sixth consecutive victory to remain undefeated on the season.  Lima collected the ball outside the 18-yard box and dribbled past two of the Saints defenders.  She saw her chance to earn the game-winner and got it when she shot low into the corner of the net past LaRoche.
