Women's Soccer Edged 1-0 in Double OT at Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass.- Sophomore Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal in the 101st minute to propel the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Curry Saturday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Lions improve to 6-8-0 on the year and 3-2-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Colonels fell to 10-4-0 overall and 1-4-0 in league play.

Eastern Nazarene and Curry headed into the halftime intermission level at 0-0 with the home team holding a 10-5 advantage in shots and a 5-0 gap in corner kicks earned.

With neither squad registering a tally in the second frame, the match headed to overtime to decide a victor. The Lions fired 20 shots through regulation while limiting the Colonels to seven.

Lawrence found the back of the net just 22 seconds into the second overtime period for her second score of the season. The sophomore ripped a left-footed shot into the right corner of the cage to lift Eastern Nazarene to its third conference win of the fall.

The hosts finished with 23 shots in the match and a margin in corner kicks. The guests were held to nine total shots on the night.

Hannah Scahill (Quaker Hill, Conn.) and Lawrence paced Eastern Nazarene with seven shots in the contest each.

Junior Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) turned aside three shots in goal for the Lions. Sophomore Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) made seven saves between the pipes for Curry.
