Bottis Nets Two as Women's Soccer Earns First Conference Win, 2-1, at Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. - Freshman midfielder Ashley Bottis (Rutland, Mass.) outdueled senior forward Lauren Bulk (Portsmouth, R.I.) as visiting Curry College stuck a 2-1 defeat on Salve Regina University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Reynolds Field.

Bottis scored the first goal of her career in the 39th minute. Bulk scored the tying goal, her fourth of the season, 13 minutes into the second half.

The game remained in a 1-1 draw for 20 more minutes before Bottis' second career goal, at 77:38, beat freshman goalkeeper Emily Cuellar (Providence, R.I.). Cuellar finished with seven saves while falling to 1-3 on the season.

Cuellar's counterpart, Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.), earned her seventh victory of the season while making four saves.

Both teams stand at 1-3-0 in the CCC while the Colonels sport an 8-3 overall mark and the Seahawks fall to 3-7.

Salve Regina hosts Framingham State University on Wednesday (3:30 p.m.); Curry has a pair of home night games this week - Monday versus Lyndon State and Wednesday versus Becker. (Game Recap Courtesy of Salve Sports Information)
