Women's Soccer Falls to Visiting Conference Rival Endicott College, 3-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost to the visiting Gulls of Endicott College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Field.  With the loss the Colonels fell to 6-8-1 overall and 1-5 in the CCC.  The Gulls improved to 10-5-1 with the win and 5-1 in the CCC.

Just 0:45 seconds into match, Endicott was rewarded a penalty kick off a Curry foul in the 18-yard box.  A Colonel defender attempted to stop a breakaway but was unsuccessful.  The Gulls senior defensemen Madison Missinne (Ridgefield, Conn.) was awarded the kick which led to their 1-0 lead early into the half. Missinne placed the ball into the lower left corner of the net.  Curry College senior goaltender Hayley Lorge (Beverly, Mass.) made a diving save but was unable to make the stop.  Lorge kept the Endicott lead to just one for the remainder of half coming up with some big saves.  The Colonels also played solid defense to help their team out. Curry had just five chances to tie the game, but the Gulls junior goaltender Katie Donnelly (Madison, Conn.) kept them scoreless.

Curry had with five shots, four on net, two corners and two fouls. Endicott had 10 shots, six on net, three corners and six fouls.

The Gulls controlled the final stanza, outshooting the Colonels 12-9 and posting two more tallies.  Endicott put up their second of the day at the 36:50 minute mark.  Sophomore Laura Wysocki (Somers, Conn.) received a through pass from Missinne for her first and team second. Both teams played an even match on the field over the next 26 plus minutes but Curry struggled to get on the board.  The third and final goal came from the Gulls with 10:03 reaming to play. This time it was freshman Shelby McLenithan (Bennington, Vt.) who netted the ball past Lorge off a pass from sophomore Paige Marinelli (Burlington, Conn.).

Curry finished with 14 shots, seven corners, two and 11 fouls.  Endicott ended with 22 shots, seven corners and 11 fouls. 

Lorge made 12 saves in net for the Colonels in the loss. The Gulls Donnelly made 11 stops in net for the win.  

The Colonel's will travel to conference opponent Roger Williams University on Wednesday, October 23 for a 4:00 p.m. match. Endicott will host conference opponent Nichols College on Wednesday, October 23 for a 7:00 p.m. game.
