Women's Soccer Falls to CCC Rival Eastern Nazarene, 3-1

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost to the visiting Lions of Eastern Nazarene, 3-1 on Saturday morning at the Walter M. Katz Field.  The Colonels fell to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Lions improved to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the CCC.

The Lions came out strong and controlled most of the first half of play.  Eastern Nazarene outshot Curry 16-2, seven landing on net. Curry's senior goaltender, Hayley Lorge (Beverly, Mass.) made five stops. Eastern Nazarene's freshman forward, Hannah Scahill (Quaker Hill, Conn.) starting the scoring off with her first of two in the half.  Scahill received a pass from junior midfielder Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and tapped it past Lorge.  Just 12 seconds later Scahill dribbled the ball from the 50-yard line, through the Colonel defense and one-timed the ball for her second tally.  Curry answered back with one of their own 4:24 minutes later. Freshman forward Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) took a shot inside the box that deflected off a Lion defender.  Lima was awarded a corner kick that resulted in the Colonels lone goal of the game.  Lima's kick sailed over the head of Eastern Nazarene's sophomore goaltender Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) and into the back of the net.  Curry couldn't get off another shot for any chance of tying the score before time ran out.  Lorge kept the Colonels within one making a few big saves.

Lawrence turned and shot hard past Lorge who dove but could only get a glove on it.
