Women's Soccer Blanks Visiting Mass. Maritime Academy, 4-0

MILTON, Mass. – Senior goaltender Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, Mass.) earned her fourth shutout of the season, to lead the Curry College women's soccer team over visiting Mass. Maritime Academy, 4-0 on Monday evening.  The Colonels improve to 6-8-2 on the season, while the Buccaneers fell to 2-10.
 
Curry owned a commanding 24-1 shot advantage and scored the first two goals of the contest in the opening frame. 
 
Curry scored their first two tallies in the first half of the match.  Junior Alayna Coakley (Grafton, Mass.) was first on the board scoring at the 25:18 minute mark.  Junior forward Brittney McLaughlin (Wilmington, Mass.) gave Coakley a through pass to gain the assist on the goal.  Just 12:13 minutes later, Alexsa Hesford (Scituate, R.I.) netted her first on the night, placing the ball past the Buccaneer’s freshman goaltender Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.).  Mass. Maritime was able to get just one shot off during the 45 minutes of play. 

The Buccaneers had one shot on net and had one foul.  The Colonels had 24 shots with14 on net and earned two corner kicks.

Curry came out strong to start the second half while registering two more goals.  Senior Lindsay Trudeau (Storrs, Conn.) gave the Colonel’s their third point of the night at the 33:51 minute mark.  Trudeau was able to find the back of the net when senior Brooke Moore (Bellingham, Mass.) crossed the ball from the corner of the field.   Curry’s final tally came from sophomore Emily Wilder (Stoughton, Mass.) with just over nine minutes remaining to play when she dribbled past a Buccaneer defender to take on Levesque one-on-one and sent the ball into the upper right hand corner. 

Curry outshot Mass. Maritime 16-3 in the final frame. The Colonel’s also had 10 shots on net, two corner kicks, and three offsides. The Buccaneers had one shot on net and one corner kick. 

Hardy ended with one save in her 45:00 minutes of play for the win.  Junior Hayley Lorge (Beverly, Mass.) played in net for the remainder of the game, making one save.  Levesque turned away 24 shots on net in the loss.

The Colonels will host CCC opponent Gordon College on Wednesday, October 17 for a 6:30 p.m. game start.  The Buccaneers will travel to Salem State on Saturday, October 20 in a 12:00 p.m. game time.
